What proof is there a God? How do you know the Bible is the Word of God? (Information obtained from “As America has done to Israel” – J. P. McTernan)

The history of the Jewish people and the Prophecy that Israel would become a nation once again confirmed God’s commitment to Abraham that Israel would become a nation for the third time. And Israel became that nation once again when it was established on May 14, 1948 on land God had granted to Abraham. God made Abraham that promise over 4000 years ago. That covenant is the reason the Jewish people and the nation of Israel exist today.

Twice Israel was destroyed. In 586 the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar totally destroyed the nation, Jerusalem and the temple. After 70 years they returned to rebuild Jerusalem and the temple. Some 650 years later in 70 AD the Romans totally destroyed Israel, Jerusalem and the temple. They were no longer a nation for 1,878 years. The Old Testament prophets predicted that the nation would again take place in the future, thus proving that God kept His word. June 1967, through another war, Jerusalem became the unified capital of Jerusalem. There is no other nation that was once totally destroyed and its people dispersed throughout the world and survived and Israel was driven out and twice destroyed. The Hebrew language was almost extinct. Today, the Israelis speak Hebrew their original language. One promise that is still to be fulfilled is the rebuilding of the Temple on the Temple Mount.

Beginning in 1880 Jews very slowing started coming back to Israel. Jews coming from Russia trickled in at first. Then came World War I and in 1917 many more Jews returned. After World War II and the Nazi Holocaust hundreds of thousands of Jews fled to Israel. Then came 1948 and Israel was attacked by surrounding nations. The war ended with Israel’s independence. For the next 23 years there was continual fighting. Next came the six day war of 1967 and Jerusalem was united with Israel. There has been continual fighting ever since. The problem has been over Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. At one time 1/6 of Jerusalem included the Temple. The Bible states that the War of Armageddon will be in part over the possession of Jerusalem. God is in the process of fulfilling His promise.

Israel is the link to God. Many believe that if they destroy Israel they can prove that Israel has no God and the Bible is not true. Most nations of the world do not recognize God’s covenant with Israel. Some believe the Jews did have a covenant but it is no longer valid. God is using the birth of Israel to show that His Word is true. The Islamic religion does not believe the covenant was made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They believe it was made with Abraham and Ishmael. Whereas, the Christian Bible believes it was not with Ishmael but Isaac. (Genesis 17:19 – 21) – Therefore, they believe that what Allah promised was to Ishmael and it is their covenant.

Muslins controlled Palestine for most of the time since 638 yet could not prevent the restoration of Israel. For Muslins to recognize the nation of Israel would be an admission that their beliefs are wrong. Yet, our government believes that they can obtain a peaceful co-existence between the two. The rebirth of Israel shows the authority of the Bible as the Word of God and proof that the Koran and Mohammed are incorrect.

The 36th Chapter of Ezekiel makes it very clear that the property belongs to Israel. However, there are a number of Christian theologians who believe the covenant God had with Abraham was broken in Ad 70. They believe Christianity replaced Israel as God’s chosen people.

It was Zechariah who prophesied the restoration of Israel, but said that when the people returned it would be in unbelief toward God and the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. God also said He would judge any nation that tried to destroy Israel. Zechariah 12:9 – 10 – “On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem. And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.” There will be a day when the Israelites will accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah.

If the restoration of Israel is not of God you would have to ignore all that has happened. We must not listen to the false teachers that teach differently. Christ warned to be careful and know your Bible because there will be many who will try to lead even the elite Christians astray.

Keep Sinning And Pay The Consequences

I listened to my normal sermons this weekend. One sermon was on the consequences of sin. The minister gave the example of King David who had committed adultery, indirectly committed murder and lied. God forgave him and stated that King David was a man after His own heart. King David is one of the greatest spiritual examples in the Old Testament. As we know he wrote much of the Book of Psalms.

The sermon pointed out, no matter what sins we have done God will forgive us. For example the sins of Rahab, the prostitute, who hid the two spies who had entered Jericho, was forgiven of her past. In fact Christ is a part of her linage. No matter what any of us have done God promises that we can be forgiven.

In I and II Samuel it tells us what occurred in David’s life as a consequence of those sins. When King David broke the Commandments under the Old Covenant it required justice to be given. As a result of King David’s sins the consequences were tremendous. One son dies, another son Amnon becomes a rapist, his son Absalom conspires with others and takes over the kingdom from King David. King David flees and his problems continue.

It appears that God allowed the story of King David and Rahab to point out that all sins can be forgiven. It is also used to state forgiveness does not eliminate consequences for past sins. Many believers may continue to sin with the idea that they can be forgiven. Romans 6:1 – 2 – “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” It is a mistake to try and manipulate God. There will be consequences to pay for sinning.

Colossians 2:13 – 14 – “When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.”

Prior to being saved when our soul was dead, we were living, guided by our self-centered nature and motivated by evil. God through Christ made our soul righteous by forgiving our sins and He made us alive and heirs with Christ in God’s kingdom. Man was a total disaster trying to keep the laws and regulations given by Moses. If we kept books on our sins we could have filled volumes. God, through Christ, destroyed those volumes and stated that no record of sins would be kept in the future.

What about a Christian who is living according to God’s “will” and runs into all kinds of devastating circumstances? Their problems may not be a result of sin. To the best of their knowledge they may not have deliberately sinned. A lot of our problems result from making wrong choices. I believe God allows bad consequences to happen that we might learn from the experiences. I have not heard of one example where a person won a super large jackpot and had no experience with money, had it spent within three years or at least most was gone. Let a non-gambler multimillionaire, who bought two lotto tickets win and the winnings may be worth 25% more within three years.

Problems that occur, in which we had little or no control, I believe God may be preparing us for greater things ahead. Have we ever thought that what happens on earth could be in preparation for eternity? We know that Christ will come back to rule on this earth for a thousand years. What will be our ministry or what will we be asked to do. We must continually remember when problems come, to ask: “God what are we to learn from this?”

Before we do something we know is completely out of the will of God we must ask ourselves: “What could be the consequences?” The consequence of sin can destroy families, careers, businesses and reputations. Most of us can relate to story after story of people we know who have met with devastating consequences as a result of sin. Do they think God isn’t looking? Do they think God can be fooled? Sin causes consequences whether it is now or at the Day of Judgment. The Bible is very specific: should we go on sinning? Paul answers: “By no means!”

Everyone is tempted! Some just don’t struggle with being tempted. It is a matter of priorities and spiritual maturity. Think twice before yielding!

The Signs Of The End Times

Each weekday, as part of my job, I am researching the Internet on the world’s economies, politics and any information that might influence the U.S. stock market. Some of the things I read are fairly pessimistic. I then must realize that we have a media of “progressives” who do not believe in our present capitalistic system and prefer liberal socialism.

It is apparent our allies can no longer trust us. Russia and China are doing everything to support foreign governments who oppose us. The Middle East is arming with nuclear weapons with intent to destroy us. Our status as a world power is slipping. Fewer nations fear us.

Consider the financial problems engulfing the sixteen European nations. Our media critics are suggesting America’s better days are behind us. Is it any wonder the confidence of Americans has been suffering?

We are seeing where the administration is becoming involved in religion. It appears they want a religion similar to the Church of England that can be controlled. Political leaders are asking priests and minister from the pulpit to promote immigration amnesty. What happened to the separation of church and state? Doesn’t Revelation say in the end-times there will be a one-world government and one religion?

Are we not seeing “end-time signs”? Do we as Christians just ignore what is happening? I suppose in the Old Testament similar situations occurred and Israel failed to turn to God. What happened to the Jews is exactly what God said would happen. I can see the same situation occurring in the U.S. and history tells us we have only one choice.

I had wondered why President Obama had so many Jews in his cabinet and he being so anti-Semitic. I recently read where approximately 80% of the Jews in America were Liberal Socialist Democrats who hate both the U. S. capitalistic system and Israel. They are in favor of a Totalitarian Government and are backing the “Progressive Movement”. Their philosophy is to punish the achievers and provide for the non-achievers. It is permissible for each of them to have wealth but it is not alright for others.

They support President Obama’s edict not to allow any Israeli aircraft to land at any US Base in the Middle East. He is seeing to it that Israel will have little possible means of attacking Iran. It seems he has taken the same stance that Jimmy Carter did. They are pledged to cause the demise of the nation of Israel and its people. When you see 80% of American Jews supporting Obama and his policies it makes you wonder if this also isn’t indicating the end-times getting nearer.

Keep in mind; Satan has always tried to destroy Israel. He motivated Pharaoh to put them in bondage in Egypt. He tried to destroy them in the wilderness. He tried to get King Saul to kill David, Israel’s only true king. He sent them into captivity to Babylon. He urges Israel’s enemies to resist the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem by Nehemiah. He provoked Herod to try and kill the baby Jesus. Satan’s reasoning: destroy Israel and you destroy any link to God. Presently, he is working on Iran, Syria, Russian and others to try again to take out the Israelites.

Approximately five years ago when I taught Revelation to a class at Central Christian Church, according to my notes, I said, economically the European Union one day will be headed for total disarray. Unemployment will be high. Their social welfare programs and socialized medicine will someday bankrupt their economies. They cannot continue to provide pensions and benefits as they have been doing. The population will complain when they have to cut benefits. Riots or a civil war could break out. Jobs could be difficult to come by. Two powerful leaders could take control. One saves the economies and the other brings peace to all of the warring peoples and nations through a world religion. Any wonder what that world religion might be. Scripture refers to the two as the anti-Christ and the false prophet. From these two we shall see different signs and miracles and they will deceive even the church elite.

When I covered this information with the class I was expecting these events would be 20 or 30 years away or longer. With what I see going on today it may take a dictator to bring the sixteen nations together. Otherwise, it may be reduced to as few as ten.

Many will not believe these events could be possible and those will be the deceived. Revelation 14:9 – 11 – “ A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink of the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment rises forever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name.”

I John 5:4 – “for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”

Revelation 22:12 – “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.” Some theologians interpret it as I will be coming quickly. We must be ready; our rewards will be based on the deeds we have done for Christ.

Again, I ask that we pray for the protection of Israel, the U.S. and a spiritual revival to take place in the hearts of both believers and un-believers. Scripture tells me prayer could be our only hope.

What If Everything You Had Was Lost Through Bankruptcy?

I have experienced many situations since becoming a Christian more than fifty years ago. My family has belonged to very legalistic churches, churches dying within, growing churches and evangelistic churches. We have been friends with liberals, conservatives and those who didn’t know what they believed. One of my favorite sermons has been on the Prodigal Son. I have heard it preached by different ministers at least 25 or more times. The Bible makes it very clear that the son’s notorious living was with prostitutes and drunkenness. However, when he had reached the extreme bottom of life his father took him back, forgave him and treated him as part of the family. This is what God has available for anyone willing to ask for forgiveness and willing to repent and live the “will” of God. Sometimes there is a price to pay for our past sins. If you have been an alcoholic prior to salvation you could be left with a liver as tough as leather. Chances are God is not going to change it and you will have to live with it.

I have personally known for more than ten years a Christian man who has either directly or indirectly committed every one of the Ten Commandments. This gentleman became independently wealthy in a business most Christians would never consider being involved. Had he invested his money wisely he could have retired prior to reaching the age of 50. For the past 15 years he has completely devoted his life as a solid, committed and totally obedient Christian. He is, a pillar so to speak, in his church and a person highly respected by other Christians. A number of years ago he sold his business and has worked in different areas since. Helping friends and relatives he invested his life savings with them and lost all he had accumulated from the ways of the world. He recently had to declare bankruptcy. What would you tell someone if they asked: “Why would God allow this to happen?” Not wanting to be put in a place of one of Job’s friends (Book of Job), I suppose it could be that God wanted to take everything in his past and have him start over completely. God allowed Satan to take away everything Job had been given. However, when Job remained true and committed to God, God replenished him with more than he had originally.

I suppose anyone with an usually sinful past history would have problems with guilt. Do we not believe that anytime something bad happens in our lives that God knows what is best for us in the end? I have had situations occur that taught me tremendous lessons. Being involve in sports as a player and a high school coach I have always learned more from losing than I ever did from winning. Maybe it is just me but I learned very little from winning in life. However, when I failed I wanted to know why and what could I do so it wouldn’t happen again.

I John 5:4 – “For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.” NLT – The world is not interested in whether we succeed or fail. However, God wants us to succeed. Who will we put our trust in? It all boils down to how much faith do we have in God? If we believe God wants us to succeed is He not going to help us through the Holy Spirit? Are we going to let the guilt of the past control us or is God really punishing us to keep us down? We have a choice to listen to the devil, who is trying to defeat us or listening to the Holy Spirit who is trying to get us to new heights. I Peter 5:8 – “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”

How often do Christians stop to realize that evil spirits are bombarding them daily with temptations to distract them from doing God’s will and to be lured by the world’s ways? Everyone doing it must make it right!

It doesn’t make any difference that others think of you as being a success or a failure. It is what God thinks of you. Did God create any one of us to fail? What if a child was afraid of falling? Would they ever learn to walk? How strong is our faith? Do we see ourselves as God sees us? And who are we going to listen to: the Holy Spirit or the devil who is looking for someone to devour? It is time for each one of us to check our faith and trust in God and then begin setting and achieving goals. There is no reason any one of us shouldn’t be successful in whatever we do within the “will” of God. Bankruptcy can be a beginning and a new start. It does not have to be looked upon as a failure. Stop listening to the devil who creates fear and guilt and listen to the Holy Spirit who wants to raise you up.

Is America Under A Curse?

For years I have studied Revelations and prophecy. Recently I wrote a blog: “President Obama’s relationship with Israel.” I am deeply concerned with this administration’s treatment and their policies toward Israel. I am in the process of doing research on the disasters that occur each time our nation has made certain territorial demands on Israel. Since May 1948 we have had times when we were blessed and times when we may have been cursed and disasters occurred.

Genesis 12:3 – “I will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” This verse keeps coming to mind when I hear of some of the demands we keep placing on Israel and then watching unusual events happen. But I am not the only one. I am seeing a lot of evidence that others have gathered information to substantiate what I believe has been developing.

History has taught us that anytime a nation, whether it was Spain, Germany, the Roman Empire or the United Kingdom turned against the Israelis their countries suffered either economic devastation or military defeats.

President Reagan is the only recent president who was 100% behind the nation of Israel. Others have done everything to establish a Palestinian nation and take land that God had given to Israel to placate the Palestinians. Under Reagan the U.S. became the only super power left and forced the dissolving of the USSR. Was that a result of giving his full support to Israel?

We talk about climate change causing tornadoes, a volcano erupting in Washington State, floods in New Orleans and Tennessee that we hear little about, oil spills in Alaska and in the Gulf of Mexico plus 9/11. All the while our presidents were demanding that Israel divide Jerusalem and cede more land to their enemies. Our present administration’s treatment of Israel, I believe is leading us toward a path that other countries have followed and ended up a shadow of their previous existence. They are telling the Jews to disregard the promises that God had given them. Their ignorance or arrogance seems to be that they know more about what is good for Israel than what God promised Abraham. It seems they neither understand the Bible nor have studied past history. Let’s not, at this time, consider the moral decay of America as a result of our leaders ignoring God.

It is my belief that we could disregard climate change altogether. But we need to take a pro-stance on Israel and back them 100%. I believe we would see America turn around and become more healthy morally and more prosperous. God has promised any nation that would bless Israel He would bless in return. However, if you are anti-Christian you would never agree to what history has proven about countries being blessed or cursed. (Italy, the headquarters for the Roman Empire, is near bankruptcy today.) Satan has spread his power throughout the world, to such degrees, that if we took a Christian stand and supported Israel; we fear every nation would be against the U.S. Our leaders are more concerned about what other nations think than what God has promised.

We are getting ourselves so in debt that we will soon begin cutting back our military force as you have heard President Obama start with diminishing our nuclear weapons. Once our economy becomes so in debt, America will no longer remain a super power. (According to Scripture China could take our place.) When that happens, Scripture appears to tell us that we will seek to become a one-world-government. As Europe becomes stronger and America becomes weaker a leader will emerge called the Antichrist.

They have located a huge amount of gas off the Israeli coast that is capable of supplying many European countries. (Isaiah 45:3 – “I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.”) This would supplant the supply that is now coming out of Russia. Russia is now using gas to blackmail some nations. Russia’s loss of supplying gas to other nations could cause the Russian army, with Iran and others, to attack Israel as I wrote previously from Chapters 38 & 39 of Ezekiel. Surprise! The Bible tells us Israel wins.

The ruler of the one world government will make a peace treaty with Israel because of their need for gas and oil that Israel has located. However, that treaty will last for only three and one-half years. At that time He will believe the world is in a position to break that treaty and take over Israel. When this event takes place Revelations tells us how it all ends.

I am not naïve enough to believe that most who read this blog will agree with what has been written. Many have misinterpreted Scripture to the point that Satan has led us into believing that Scripture does not tell us when the end is coming. Jesus tells us no one knows the day or time. But He also told us that there would be signs given. And, is there anyone living capable of reading those signs? There are hundreds of Bible scholars believing we can. You be the judge!

Whether it a short time or a long time before the end is questionable. The Bible indicates the end-time could be delayed as a result of Christian’s praying. This is why I have asked Christians to become prayer warriors and pray that God intervenes and stops what is going on in this world. If you want our children and grandchildren to live in an America that was once a truly Christian nation we must become active prayers. If Christians ignore what is going on and do not get on their knees and ask for a revival in the hearts of people I think God’s wrath will come quickly. We can delay the end but we must believe in the power of prayer and God’s promises. If you have not done so, may I suggest that you go to Facebook and search for “100 prayer warriors” and sign up to pray for a revival. (I prefer writing positive blogs and this is meant to be one.)

Do We Make Salvation Too Easy?

We have two deferring theological beliefs. Can you lose your salvation or once saved, you will always be saved. These two beliefs are probably the most contested disagreements and can separate Christians and cause division in the church. Another may be: is it necessary to speak in tongues when receiving the Holy Spirit?

Could we be misleading people when we state that if they will say this prayer: I accept Jesus Christ as Lord, I ask for forgiveness, repent of my sins and I invite the Holy Spirit into my life? It doesn’t take much more than that but is everyone who says these words saved? Let us look at the following parable.

Mark 4:15 – 20 – “Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown.”

It is my belief that in three of the above illustrations in the above parable, if they received salvation, they lost it. I base that on a number of different Scriptures, especially: James 4:14 & 17 – “What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

Matthew 7:21 – “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

April, approximately 900 went up to the front of our church and confessed that they had received salvation. Were they all saved and did they receive the Holy Spirit? Only God knows! Of the four options in the above parable the first quickly lost it or never received salvation. The person who received salvation with joy, when trouble came they gave up. The third may have been living a Christian life for years when lust and temptation came along, they gave up their salvation. The last group was Christ followers to the end. Some believe once saved they may do most anything and still be saved. I believe this is going to the edge and is really questionable.

Matthew 7:21 tells me it isn’t so much about what I believe but how I live. I have mentioned previously that one of the greatest gifts I have received is contentment. Christ gives to me everything I need. Philippians 4:13 – “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” We must learn to be pleased with what God has allowed us to have. We must not allow what we do not have to be something that we must have. We must not envy what others have that we don’t. We must be careful to give God thanks for everything we have. This does not preclude us from having nice things, a good job, home, cars and others items. However, contentment means these material things are not must haves! I always remember the man given the five talents who made ten and his master said, good and faithful servant. To the man given one talent and buried it made the master angry. He took talent and gave it to the man who had made ten. Contentment does not mean laziness! We must do our very best in every endeavor and material things are only byproducts of our labor.

In the parable of the seed and soils I do not believe the first three ever found salvation or if they did, they gave it up to live as the world lives. The fourth grew and produced through obedience and doing God’s will and was the only one to find contentment in Christ. Now you be the judge. Did everyone in the parable find salvation and are all going to heaven?

Can greed and envy destroy the world as we know it?

We can see America changing and continue to wonder where it will end. There are a number of risks that we now must take into consideration. There is excess leverage, government deficits, higher taxes coming, money instability and new regulations. There is potential for inflation, rising oil and gas prices and costs resulting from the oil spill off the Louisiana coast. European country’s debt crisis could become a global threat. You may be wondering why a small European country, Greece, is affecting the U.S. stock market. It is more than just Greece. If they can’t save Greece there are other countries that could default. If the plan to keep the PIIGS, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece and Spain from defaulting does not work it could tremendously affect the U.S., Asia and Latin America. It could even lead to another recession or an economic double dip. This is one of Wall Street’s major concerns. Should they default or have problems borrowing, U.S. and U.K. banks could be seriously hurt. There is a slight possibility that it could cause the fifteen nation euro zone to become undone which could affect the world financially. It is with these questions in mind that we look to and plan for the future. The problems with Europe are their government guarantees for socialized health care, retirement benefits and high wages for government employees. America could be headed for similar problems. The direction many nations are following could put the world into a major financial crisis. If politicians had spines this could all be fixed. However, when you see rioting in Greek’s streets because people are unwilling to submit to a lowering of their standard of living you can see why it is not easy to change. I am waiting to see what will happen in California if they don’t get bailed out. We are getting a similar view with government employees in Clark County unwilling to renegotiate their contracts. If the world is headed for a potential crisis what could be the outcome?

What has caused the world to get into this financial mess? Revelation 12:9b – “that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.”

What we are watching throughout the world is the committing of the seven deadly sins. Pride produces all of the other sins. Then there is gluttony: the desire to consume more than one requires. Two more are lust and anger. Then there is sloth or the avoidance to work or improve oneself. The two I want to discuss is how satanic forces have caused greed and envy to affect our entire world. First, let me refer to the blog: “Satan’s attack on the Catholic Church”. It is estimated that Catholic priests have performed 100,000s of exorcisms on those possessed with evil spirits. Many of those possessed may have been in leadership positions. How many successful people have we tried to emulate what they may have done to become wealthy? Can you describe their character? Do they practice honesty, integrity, fairness and service to others? Or, are they willing to do whatever to achieve success?

Have we gone too far in pursuing wealth, fame, power and instant gratification? How much is excessive? Is there ever enough for many? One of the seven deadly sins that corrupt many is greed. If we do not want to be greedy and sinful then let’s call it a different name. We can call it being overly ambitious or extremely competitive making the sky our limit. Therefore, we must determine if we are working with the right motives and many have not been. How many of us are greedy enough that we would do almost anything for money, power or fame? Would you estimate 75% of the population? Has the world been allowing Satan and his millions of fallen angels and demons influence and set people’s goals? How susceptible are we to temptation?

Let us assume we are given a raise from $75,000 to $100,000. We go home and tell our spouses how pleased we are and how much the company appreciates us. We are celebrating, excited and very pleased until we find out that another employee we work with was raised to $125,000. Now we are angry! We become envious. Envy can be worse than greed. Envy may cause more athletes, actors, CEOs and others to demand excessive pay than greed. Envy has probably caused more wars than any other reason. Envy may cause more problems in the church and between churches than other factors.

If you are listening to the evening news or reading the daily paper can you not see what is happening in our world today? Politicians, unions, different political doctrines, executives and I could continue on putting themselves before everyone else. How capable is the world of reverting back to a less standard of living if it becomes necessary? This is what happened after the great depression of the 1930s. How many are willing to give up something to benefit others? What happened to love your neighbor or do unto others as you would do unto them? Greed and envy can cause picketing, riots and revolts. What will keep all of this from occurring? History tells us that this will take God’s intervention. When will God intervene? Scripture says only after thousands upon thousands of Christians pray for God to become involved. Want to know the rest of the story? Study Revelation! Did you know everyone has an Internal Guidance System?

I happened to turn on the radio and heard a lady talking about the benefits of having an IGS. I am thinking is this something like you put in your car and it gives you directions. She goes on to tell that it is kind of like having “gut feelings” or sensing something is about to happen before it happens. I have had a number of times feelings that I should do or not do something and it has saved my life or it caused large financial losses. As I keep listening I am wondering if she is talking about one’s conscience”. Or, maybe she is talking about our spirit. She continues to tell a number of stories how a person, using their IGS was able to do things that were very unusual. In most cases it was life saving, financial rewards or improved life-time experiences. Since having missed most of the program I go to my computer and look up Internal Guidance System and this is what I learn:

“The Internal Guidance System or “IGS” is a reliable, sensory based “secondary operating system” – an alternative to being controlled by our mind, our ego and thought patterns, a personal life compass and a trusted companion that can help us attune to divine guidance, be in alignment with our higher purpose and act in the world from a place of personal power, courage and integrity.” Wow! I knew I had a personal life compass but I thought it was the Holy Spirit. Before receiving the Holy Spirit I realized that there was something within that helped me know right from wrong. There were times I had those gut feelings. I just didn’t realize it was called an internal guidance system or a personal life compass.

I was unable to determine if this was a new age religion or a person making a living selling books and giving seminars. I have been outlining I & II Timothy and Titus for my Bible study group and the apostle Paul tells Timothy and the Church at Ephesus to be aware of false teachers. But many of us are very gullible. Scripture says in the last days many believers will become deceived.

I have had opportunities to buy land or invest in companies that had I done so would have made me wealthy. My research and my gut told me not to do so. Others did and became multi-millionaires. What was wrong with my internal guidance system? Did their IGS just work better than mine? Just think, if I had made the right decisions I would not be doing what I am now doing. I would no longer be in business investing for clients and I would not be writing this blog. Chances are I would be visiting different countries and finding new ways of being entertained.

If God planned out my life I wonder why He chose the course that I have followed. If I had made different choices would it have given me more faith, joy and peace than I now have? Maybe if I had taken that seminar and used the IGS rather than the Holy Spirit for guidance I would be much more financially well-off. Well sometimes in life there are times we have to make decisions. Who are we willing to let control our lives: the Holy Spirit or that Internal Guidance System that can make us richer and give us personal power, courage and integrity? Maybe it might be best to use the IGS if you want to live as the world lives. However, if eternity, forever and ever is important, you probably ought to be obedient to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and chose God’s will. You be the judge!

Jeremiah 29:11 – 13 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Las Vegas – Sin City or the Louisiana Coast?

When Hurricane Katrina hit we were told it could be due to the sinfulness of those states on the Gulf of Mexico’s coast, particularly Louisiana. Now there is a tremendous problem with a devastating oil spill headed for the same area. God must really have it in for those people.

Christ, in chapter two of Revelation asked John to write to the church at Pergamum. Rev. 2:13a – “I know where you live—where Satan has his throne.” Pergamum was the most famous city in Asia. History tells us the people worshipped power and authority. The people of Pergamum didn’t care about right or wrong only about themselves.

I talked to a lady from Cambodia who said their government was so corrupt they didn’t care about the people only themselves and their lavish lifestyle. This was typical of governments in the Old Testaments and since.

During the apostle John’s time, the author of Revelation, it was believed by the people that Satan’s throne actually existed in Pergamum and it seems Christ is confirming this belief. The city was surrounded by a society that was non-Christian and its values, standards and lack of morals permeated the population. Satan can be in only one place and in Revelation we are told he can be in a human body. But he has an efficient organization of millions of fallen angels and demons that are against Christianity and the world. They are everywhere.

Las Vegas, like Pergamum, can be the most difficult place for a Christian to live because of the tremendous Satanic and sinful influences. Las Vegas, as in Pergamum, many Christians have stayed true and faithful to the teachings of Christ. However, in Las Vegas like Pergamum, believers can be easily deceived. Some Christians believe they can co-exist with the world and believe that living as the world does is acceptable to God.

It is easy to become too legalistic and condemning, in this atmosphere, and the opposite of legalism is being too liberal. Churches and many Christians find it difficult to be in between theologically. We must not reject believers who are living on the edge. We must be encouragers and lead by example.

There may be little difference, sin-wise, between those being harmed by hurricanes, tornadoes, oil disasters or earthquakes and the lifestyle of many living in Las Vegas or elsewhere. If God is doing any punishing for immoral living, I would suspect there are many cities and states that would be found just as guilty. Is God punishing cities like Las Vegas and Detroit through economic crises? Could we really blame God for what these two cities are going through economically? Or, could it be a result of human greed? In my 36 years in Las Vegas it was assumed Las Vegas was recession proof—build and they will come. Maybe God is punishing Arizonan’s with being the kidnapping capital of America because of their evil deeds. How far do we take this to reach the conclusion that if God is punishing people for how they live, is anyone safe?

Al Gore and his people would have us believe that God is not in control. We can live anyway we desire just as long as we don’t melt the ice caps and glaciers. How far do we go before stopping this silliness? Study Revelations! The closer we get to the end-times the greater nature and the climate will change. Earthquakes and famines are predicted regardless of how you live or where you live. I contend that if the world converted to Christianity God would see that the earth would change for the better. However, we know the chances of that happening are minimal. Satan has made too many inroads and people’s hearts are so hard they could never be convinced or converted. Moses tells of the hardened heart of the Egyptian Pharaoh. No matter what miracles or signs were given he refused to give in until the eldest son in every Egyptian family died. So don’t be surprised, as we get closer to the end, if from time to time we see national disasters and these horrible events happening anywhere at any time. God is in control and is allowing the Book of Revelation to play out! If you want to know what to expect—study it.
