If I were to write a Christian mystery concerning a missing Boeing 777, this is how I would start:

Many people have claimed to have sold their souls to the devil. Even Jesus was tempted to sell His soul to the devil. Matthew 4:8 – “Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. ‘All this I will give you,’ he said, ‘if you will bow down and worship me.’ Of course, Jesus refused but how many people would have accepted? We do not know how Satan appeared to Jesus, was he a man or a spirit? Let us assume in the book he was a spirit-type man that could be recognized as the devil.

The world has hundreds of thousands worshiping the devil and the Washington, D. C. area is said to be one of the greatest accumulations of devil worshippers in the U.S. We read of numerous movie stars, musicians and others admitting to selling their souls for fame, power or prosperity. In fact, we have world leaders who do evil things for power and prosperity.
The book, about a missing Boeing 777, would start with the devil having a plan to send an airplane loaded with nuclear bombs to blow up and destroy Tel Aviv, Israel. The devil has been working with a few world leaders developing a plan with those who were willing to destroy Israel.

The devil’s proposal needs two foreign pilots who are willing to sell their souls for future promises in heaven. As an illustration, some Muslim suicide bombers believe they will receive 72 virgins in heaven if they murder Jewish citizens of Israel. To destroy a whole Jewish city just think what the devil’s reward’s being offered may be. The pilots in my book are not Muslims, just opportunists wanting what the devil is offering.

Two foreign pilots, flying for a small foreign airline, have been recruited to fly a Boeing 777, full of passengers, toward a foreign airport where nuclear bombs were being stored. They disconnected all of their communication systems so they cannot be located. They then fly to a particular airport having prearranged to pick up all explosives needed and then prepare them for the next flight to Israel. They unload the passengers and place them in a large warehouse as hostages to be used to trade for prisoners and ransom. Personnel were ready to paint the plane and to disguise it as one of British’s largest airliners. It was then loaded with nuclear armament. This airport was north of Syria and the one previous arrangements had been made to provide all provisions that were needed. Having adequate armament and supplies, they fly toward Tel Aviv with plans to make a suicide crash that they hoped would destroy the entire city.

While all of this is taking place Israeli intelligence surveillance realize what their plans are. They have been able to identify the plane and where it has landed. If they make the world aware of what is about to take place, they believe the plane would not take off on their mission and they could not prove their intent. So they wait with fighter planes ready to take off and then plan to demand that the disguised plane land in Jordan so it can be searched and their plan foiled. The plane takes off at night and the fighters fly to intercept it. As they approach the 777, they demand that it land as directed and where they specify or they will shoot it down. The plane refuses to land and continues on its way toward Tel Aviv. The fighter pilots are given permission to shoot it down. They are over Syria when they shoot it down and Biblical prophecy is fulfilled as follows:

Isaiah 17:1 – “A prophecy against Damascus: ‘See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins.’” NIV

This really upsets Russia. It gives them one more reason with Iran and other nations to eventually attack Israel as prophesied in Ezekiel 38:3 – 6 – “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshek and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. Persia, Cush and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets, also Gomer with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you.”

We know Russia is concerned about the amount of natural gas and oil that Israel has located. It is possible that Israel could compete against Russia and bring the price of these commodities to such a low price to European nations that it could financially bankrupt Russia. Approximately 70% of Russia’s income is a result of exporting gas, oil and related products. Even though America could do the same, America has chosen not to bring the prices down but to keep prices high. There are just too many in our administration that are convinced that these resources cause global climate change. They will never be convinced that God is in charge and controls what happens in His universe.

Who would have thought that this is how the prophecy of Damascus’ destruction would take place.

God will continue to provide signs letting nonbelievers realize there is a God and their only hope is to accept Christ as their Savior if they want to have eternal life after death.
